My 4th grader has been struggling in school and we decided it was time to find some outside help for her. We just went through an intensive week long session with Learn the Basics and our daughter has already improved in all of her problem areas. She is not just showing her how to do the work, but working with her to figure out how she learns and setting her up with tools and study habits to make sure she has the groundwork to be successful in all areas. She is not only teaching our daughter this, but us parents as well. The best part of it is, my daughter has a lot of fun at these sessions and has not complained once about waking up early to go during her Christmas break. For me, Learn the Basics is a great tutor that has made me assured and confident about my writing skills. Never have I known that my foundations on the basics such as sentence structure, grammar, and organization were so weak until she pointed them out. I am extremely appreciative of her hard work ethic and caring attitude toward me, and surely to other students also. In just a week, she not only helped me develop the architecture of good writing, but also was very interactive and had a "You learn by doing" approach to it. For anyone that is struggling at writing, you can not go wrong at all with Learn the Basics. Amazing tutor and overall an amazing person. I would recommend her if anyone asked me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so wonderful with our 7 year old ADHD son this last week during his sessions! I'm so glad I found Learn the Basics to help my daughter with high school math, overall organization and even life skills. She worked with my daughter for the past 3 years and it made the high school experience so much better for all of us. There is just not enough opportunity for one-to-one instruction in a classroom setting and if your child needs extra help (especially on things you cannot provide) seeking an academic coach is the best way to go! My son was struggling with math beginning in middle school and into freshman year. We'd tried a tutor before but it was not very effective. I was referred to Learn the Basics by a friend; my son liked her ,which is key for him to listen to her advice. She provided him with blueprints for improved study habits which was really at the center of his struggles. She was very supportive and willing to make time around upcoming tests. Learn the Basics has been wonderful. Our daughter has been struggling for a awhile and we are so thankful for having stumbled upon this program. We were so concerned because our daughter had lost interest in even attempting any school work and she was able to turn it around for her, she is now excited to do the work and learn new concepts. The program may seem like a big investment but it is worth every penny and more. Our children are worth it and I don’t suggest waiting to see if things turn around later, take the plunge enroll in these programs. We are excited for the summer program. - Christine M.
